Digital Bank Launch

Time frame: 2008-2009

Organisation: Zuno Bank (Raiffeisen Group)

Context: After the 2008 financial crisis Raiffeisen International planned a multi-country digital bank start-up to capture emerging online banking markets and collect additional liquidity.

Action: Initially as Project Manager of RBIs Direct Banking initiative, I led the qualification of the business concept with the support of external consultants. After the project and the investment received approval from the RBI Management Board, I became part of a small core team that was tasked with building the project organisation and launching the bank. As a leader of Product and Marketing stream, I orchestrated the development of value proposition, banking product offer, branding, digital customer journeys and CRM strategy. Core banking was implemented on Finacle by Infosys and internet banking on the solutions of IND Group (later acquired by Misys than by Finastra). Products implemented were current accounts, debit cards, saving accounts and on-line banking.

Result: Zuno bank has received Austrian banking licence from FMA in 2009, Zuno Bank was successfully launched in Slovakia in 2010, creating a scalable template for future multi-country direct banking operations. Launch in Czeck Republic and the start of lending was completed after my departure from the project.
